The Gold Coast to Tamborine Mountain loop is roughly 90 km and can be driven in under 2 hours. The Coastal Start

Start from Surfers Paradise and head south along the Gold Coast Highway. The early morning light on Broadbeach and Miami is beautiful, and the wide, smooth roads let you settle into the car. Stop at Burleigh Heads for a coffee at The Commune -- the headland views are spectacular.

Climbing Tamborine Mountain

From Nerang, take the Tamborine-Oxenford Road up the mountain. The road climbs steeply through subtropical rainforest, with hairpin bends that reward smooth driving.
